  Alex Pearce   Alex Pearce is a medical student in the class of 2019 at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. Her goal is to have a wide scope of practice as a rural family doctor, but she does have a particular passion for the care of elderly populations.   Role:  Story Curator and Founder of Stories of Medicine.   Favourite medium of stories:  Photovoice and YouTube videos   Fun facts:  Alex never quite figured out team sports, so she loves hiking, yoga and biking. She also finds great joy in making cards, creative writing, and people-watching with her granny (Queenie Sue).

  Rebecca Lauwers   Rebecca Lauwers is a medical student in the class of 2019 at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine. She has an ardent love of narrative medicine and the recovery model approach to care; for the ways they keep us honest, and human to ourselves and each other.   Role:  Story Curator   Favourite medium of stories:  Spoken word, poetry, and prose   Fun facts:  Rebecca is currently learning some basic skills in the trades as she renovates her 1940s house top to bottom. She likes to play the piano on campus late at night when no one’s around. Her little red poodle is the apple of her eye.

She hopes to practice family medicine and has special interest in women's health and equity. She loves to rewrite song lyrics and can be found attempting to belt to Broadway numbers while driving on the highway.

Fun facts: Serena loves musicals and has been involved in school productions both in undergrad and at Mac Med. She loves to rewrite song lyrics and can be found attempting to belt to Broadway numbers while driving on the highway.

She is an aspiring family doctor with a particular passion for mental health and hopes to provide CBT as part of her future practice.
